Total Station and Setting Out
CHT/7 Total Station and Setting Out [2 Day Course]
The course is designed for site managers, trainee engineers, site engineers and those who are involved in setting out and establishing survey control for construction and building work. The course is suitable for staff with some theodolite knowledge, but little or no total station/EDM experience.
Objectives:
- On completion of the course delegates should be able to:
- Understand how Total Stations/EDM work
- Set up and use Total Station/EDM equipment for establishing control, detail surveying, setting out and coordinate checks.
- Understand site survey procedures and planning workflow.
- Understand site control and site grids, including Ordnance Survey grid.
- Calculate polar coordinate setting out information from coordinates.
- Maintain clear records of calculations.
- Extract coordinate data from digital drawings.
- Set out coordinate data by total station.
- Import digital data into total stations.
- Automatically compute setting out data in the field.
- Observe, code and record survey data in the field.
- Produce simple survey plots.
- Interface recorded data with external software programs.
- Undertake Resection/Free Station.
- Set out points off a baseline by total station, plus other functionality (Missing Line, REM,
- Complete and record as-built surveys to support quality control procedures.
- Understand potential sources of error when using Total Stations/EDM’s.
- Check for sources of errors with the total station/EDM equipment and accessories.
Pre – Requirements:
- Basic understanding of geometry and algebra.
- At least 2 Years site experience.
